Spring Wedding Flowers at Elmore Court featuring Natural, Textural and Sustainable British Blooms and Floral Design
With a van full of all sorts of seasonal spring floral joy we headed to Elmore Court in The Cotswolds to deliver and create the wedding florals for R & T’s wedding day.
This was an extra special wedding as myself and the bride had become acquainted through creative passions, long before the floral business was born and this couple were one of the very first to trust me with their wedding florals as the service was establishing. In this post I’ll share some beautiful professional photography by Gary Nunn of the day and a closer look at the incorporated seasonal and British florals.
Before diving into the florals themselves though, here’s what R & T so kindly said about their floral experience, as the service here is so much more than just the florals themselves.
“Grace is the most talented, wonderful person you could work with for your wedding florals.
From our initial conversations about colour and vibe, she created the most beautiful bouquets, hair pin, buttonholes, urns and individual vases for our ceremony and reception rooms. Grace sourced absolutely stunning florals from grasses and foliage to pillowy roses and bright, striking tulips all combined into our perfect colour palette, along with taking into consideration our preference of seasonal and sustainable flowers.
I was so impressed with how she translated my verbal description and a few photos from Pinterest into such a gorgeous display that we had SO many compliments on. The flowers were treated really well, so I was even able to take most of them home after a two-day mini-moon where they stood in buckets and I’ve since been able to dry them for displaying at home as a lasting memory of our wedding day.
I couldn’t recommend Grace highly enough - her design, vision, customer service and manner, and her friendly, subtle work on the day was perfect. Thank you, Grace! xxxx”
Floral Design Brief and Styling Aesthetic -
R & T approached MWG with a brief that was all about relaxed, textural, spring flowers, championing British grown and sustainability. The bride, a founder of a sustainable skincare business had a huge value of natural quality and family background in botanical fragrance, so the flowers were a really important aspect of the day. Elmore Court itself is full of charm and character so did not need to be swamped with styling, but colour, fragrance and botanical warmth introduced to elevate the sensory experiences.
The colour scheme was to incorporate the couples favourites of coral and emerald green which was carried through in the wedding party attire, stationery and finer styling details. I was so pleased to find the perfect shade of coral botanically dyed luxury silk ribbon to tie from the bridal bouquet!
The Bridesmaid & Bridal Bouquets, Ceremony Styling and Table Flowers -
British ranunculus, parrot tulips and fritillaries, along with lots of other spring delights went into the bouquets and delicate grasses, foliage and ferns were used to bring further botanical texture and relaxed shaping.
For the ceremony, the aisle entrance was framed by floral urns filled with tumbling jasmine vines, blousy tulips and spring branches upon wooden plinths either side then at the aisle end, a duo of our MWG exclusive stone bowls filled with further joy sat upon the striking furniture, between the iconic Elmore Court statues and provided gentle framing to the space.
For the dining tables, with them being banquet style with sharing foods and candles also in the mix, we opted for using vintage stone bottles filled with delicate and intriguing floral stems.
British Grown and Seasonal Spring (April) Florals -
As always incorporating British grown stems wherever possible into designs is really important here and I was absolutely thrilled to be able to get my hands on some beauties from the community of Surrey growers network. Frilly ranunculus, striking parrot tulips, delicate fritillaries and fragrant narcissi to name a few and as always with British, the quality was totally unmatched to varieties from the international flower market.
Sustainable Floral Design Processes -
Sustainability was really important to the couple and it’s really important here too. Not only were as many British flowers used as possible, as always all designs including the large floral urn installations, meadow arrangements, bowl designs and beyond were created with reusable and sustainable inner mechanics. This is the term used to describe how the floral stems are kept supported in place and hydrated. The vessels used are all part of our MWG core collection and are either vintage or exclusively crafted for the studio and event inventory.
R & T’s Cotswolds wedding at Elmore Court was a wonderful celebration and great example of how seasonal florals, thoughtful design and alignment on values between client and designer can create memorable, joyful and personally complementing floral landscape and experience.
