Sustainability in Floral Design

The floral industry is often less green than it appears. At Made With Grace, we’re committed to raising the bar with thoughtful, nature-respecting practices that go beyond conventional floral design when serving our wedding and corporate clients across Surrey, Sussex, Kent & Hampshire.

Some of the ways we keep our process as earth-friendly as possible :

Foam-Free Arrangements
Our designs are crafted completely without floral foam—the dense, dark green material often used in arrangements that is filled with harmful chemicals and breaks down into microplastics. Instead, we use innovative, eco-conscious techniques that uphold the integrity of each design without sacrificing sustainability.

Natural, Pure Ingredients
We believe nature’s beauty doesn’t need enhancements. You won’t find dyed, bleached, glittered, or artificial stems in our work, as these materials can’t be composted safely. Every flower and foliage we use is as natural as it was grown, allowing for safe and seamless composting after your event.

Seasonal Blooms Only
We favor seasonal varieties that bring vibrant color, freshness, and a reduced carbon footprint to each arrangement. These flowers are of the highest quality, having traveled less and reflecting the natural beauty of the current season.

Supporting Local, British-Grown Flowers
Whenever possible, we incorporate delicate, unique flowers grown by British farmers who bring expertise and care to each bloom. By choosing locally grown flowers, we celebrate the skill of local growers and contribute to a more sustainable, responsible floral industry.

Artisan Vessels and Reusable Props
Our commitment to sustainability extends to every detail of our work, including the vessels and props we use. We select reusable, vintage, or artisan-made options whenever possible, ensuring each piece aligns with our ethos of creating beauty that lasts well beyond a single event.

Celebrating Dried Flowers for Lasting Beauty
We love using dried flowers (the naturally dried, non bleached or glittered ones!), especially outside of the British growing season. They offer intriguing texture to designs and are a sustainable alternative to artificial blooms.
